Dining rediscovered

What can you produce from a kitchen with no electricity or modern appliances? One step through the door of the lodge at day’s end and the delicious wafts from the kitchen tell you the possibilities are plentiful.

This ‘unplugged’, handmade style of cooking is all about the simplicity of quality, Tasmanian produce, with meals inspired by the natural landscape and temperate climate.

We’re happy to cater for special dietary requirements too, so please include any requests on your booking form.

Each night, gathering at the candlelit dining table is a time to reflect on the day’s adventures, enjoy uninterrupted conversation and form new friendships in an atmosphere that nourishes the soul, as well as the body.


 

Tasmanian produce & wine

This mild, sunny peninsula is famous for succulent, free range, grass-fed beef and lamb, and the finest locally-grown fruits and vegetables.

Treat your tastebuds to fresh-off-the-boat flathead and oysters derived from some of the world’s cleanest waters, then complement them with Tasmania’s internationally acclaimed cool-climate wines.

Tasmania’s naturally elegant wines are made from grapes grown in climates similar to those of prized European varieties – with mild summers and long autumn days that ripen the grapes and create their intense flavour.

This unique island state now produces some of the world’s best cool climate wines such as Pinot Noir, sparkling wines, and Pinot Gris.

At Friendly Beaches Lodge, we serve wines from award-winning local wineries including: Freycinet Vineyard, Milton, Gala and Springvale. We also offer a selection of micro-brewed beers and ciders, including Hazards, the fine local ale.

“It’s a pleasure to cook in the kitchen at Friendly beaches. The sound of the ocean, the surrounding birdlife and a close connection with the bush outside creates a joyous, creative cooking environment. Added to that is the opportunity to use a bountiful array of gourmet local ingredients. Together, they create an environment of such pleasure in the preparation, that when it comes time to sit down and share the food, wine and conversation, there’s a sense of contentment that sets Friendly Beaches apart.
